At South City Prep, we believe that teachers are the front line in the fight to get all of our scholars to and through college. In order to attract the best and keep them at our school, we provide an outstanding compensation system.

Teachers are eligible for base salary bonuses from 5-10% each student based on student academic growth. Student growth is measured across classrooms, departments, grade levels, and the entire school. Top performing teachers can earn significantly more than other teachers in the St. Louis region.
All teachers are provided cell phones, MacBook Pros, and iPads to plan lessons, collaborate with peers, and make themselves available to students and families.
Teachers have at least 100 minutes of prep time each day and over 6 hours of prep time each week. Every minute of prep time is is with your subject area colleagues and takes place in the school’s “War Room”.
Every 7-8 weeks, South City Prep teachers have one full week of professional development and 1/2 day Professional Development of Friday. This week allows our teachers to spend extensive time looking at individual student academic data and to plan units for the next instructional cycle. Over the course of the year, South City Prep teachers will have over 160 hours of paid professional development and work time in their classrooms every year. Additionally, every staff member has a chance to attend the BES Weekend Warrior Series and Uncommon Schools professional development led by Doug Lemov.

In August of 2015, we will open our first high school and we are currently looking to hire our future principal. The High School Principal Fellowship will be a one-year program dedicated to acclimating the principal to South City Prep’s unique culture and systems as well as researching, designing, and opening South City Prep’s first high school in the Fall of 2015.

South City Prep is seeking a Director of Development to lead the school’s fundraising and marketing efforts. The Director of Development will be responsible for the vision, strategy, and design of school’s development plan. The Director will report to the Head of School and will manage all development functions including grant writing, donor cultivation and relations, community engagement, volunteer support, managing the South City Prep brand, marketing, and public relations.

South City Prep’s Communication Arts Instructional Coach (CAIC) will provide instructional support and coaching to staff members to ensure that each student is able to reach his or her academic potential. The IC’s primary role is to work with Communication Arts teachers to support best practices using data, provide analysis of school-wide trends in instruction and make recommendations about potential next steps to address areas of need. The CAIC will teach one to three period of classes in addition to coaching duties and intervention work with specific student groups.
